The City of Philadelphia built Fletcher Street Urban Riding Club a new stable at The Cliffs in Fairmount Park, but since its 2023 grand opening, funding gaps have kept us from moving in. We are so close to the finish line and we need your help to get there. Invest in these final steps and help us open the doors to greener pastures and finally bring Fletcher Street Urban Riding Club home.
Our immediate funding needs
Tack room
The tack room is essential to the daily operation of our stable. Funding will help us complete and properly outfit the space with the storage, fixtures, organization systems, and other necessities required to safely store saddles, bridles, riding equipment, and horse-care supplies.
Horse washroom
Our horse washroom still needs critical infrastructure before it can be used. Funding will help complete the plumbing, concrete wash pad, sink, fixtures, and necessary washing accessories so our horses can be safely washed, groomed, and cared for.
Hay pulley system
Our hay storage is located on the second floor. We need a safe and efficient pulley system to move hay into the loft and properly manage one of the most important supplies our horses depend on every day.
Office & classroom
Our new home isn't just a place to house horses, it is a place for young people to learn and grow. We need desks, tables, chairs, storage, and other basic furnishings to make our classroom and office spaces functional.
15 passenger van
Transportation is essential to making our programs accessible. A new passenger van will help us safely transport young people between Fletcher Street and our new Fairmount Park stable, as well as to programs, educational opportunities, events, and activities.
Pick up truck
We need a reliable truck capable of safely pulling our horse trailer. This vehicle is critical for transporting our horses between locations, veterinary appointments, programs, events, and emergencies.
Tack & essential barn supplies
Moving into a larger facility means equipping it properly. We need additional tack, buckets, grooming equipment, storage and organizational supplies, and the everyday tools necessary to safely care for our horses and operate the stable.
Movable paddock fencing
Flexible, movable fencing will allow us to safely create and rotate turnout areas, giving our horses secure access to pasture while helping us manage and protect the land.
Together these needs total ≈ $200,000 — our campaign goal.

You're helping protect a piece of Philadelphia's history, create space for young people to learn, care for our horses, and preserve the legacy of the Black horsemen and women who have made Fletcher Street what it is today.
